Highlights from the #FoodActive2024 annual conference

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of welcoming over 400 attendees and an outstanding lineup of speakers to the Food Active Annual Conference, themed “Increasing Access to Healthier Food: From National Policy to Local Action.”

The turnout was fantastic, and we couldn’t be happier with how the session unfolded. Here are some of the highlights from this year’s event, brought to life by our talented live illustrator, Chris from Nifty Fox Creative.

Understanding why obesity-related food policies have failed to date – and what lessons can the new government take from this, and reviewing their progress to date with Professor Christina Vogel and Dr Hannah Brinsden

Making the case for further policy action on early years nutrition, school food, welfare support and investment in public health and prevention with Dr Vicky Sibson, Stephanie Slater, Laura Burgess and Dr Adam Briggs.

Reviewing the opportunities and sharing good practice on local action to increase access to healthier food and tackle health inequalities with Professor Charlotte Hardman, Anne Rose, Liz Fisher, Hayley Stafford and Emma Mackie.

Providing opportunities for further sharing learning on local action through the Virtual Case Study Zone, including utilising fruit and vouchers, offering universal breakfast clubs, promoting uptake of Healthy Start vouchers, supporting community food growing and much more, with Professor Matthew Ashton.
