As Project Manager working on the Food Active programme, I am currently supporting the delivery of Lancashire Healthier Places; a programme of work designed to create and promote healthier weight environments across Lancashire. I also work with Blackburn with Darwen public health to support schools to meet the School Food Standards and Environmental Health to deliver the healthier catering award, Recipe 4 Health. Alongside these projects I support the delivery of the Food Active programme and run the Food Active Podcast.
I was introduced to Food Active during a lecture as part of my undergraduate studies. With a particular interest in infant and child nutrition and eager to gain work experience within public health, I began volunteering for Food Active in July 2019 to deepen my knowledge of reducing health inequalities and foster health-promoting environments. I continued to volunteer on a part-time basis until becoming formally employed by Health Equalities Group in April 2020. I hold a BSc in Food Development and Nutrition from Liverpool John Moores University, an MSc in Public Health Nutrition from the University of Chester and am an Associate Registered Nutritionist (ANutr) with the Association for Nutrition.
Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, yoga, painting and experimenting with South Asian cooking.
