I’m a medical doctor by background, having trained at Liverpool Medical School. After initially following a career path towards general practice, I realised that my passion lay in addressing the wider factors that affect health and preventing illness before it starts. This led me to pursue a career in public health. I trained as a Public Health Consultant through the North West Public Health Training Scheme, during which time I also held an academic fellowship at the University of Liverpool and published several peer-reviewed papers.
I’ve since worked as a Public Health Consultant in Halton, Wirral, and, since 2023, for Liverpool City Council. My areas of responsibility include improving the wider determinants of health, addressing addictions (including drugs, alcohol, tobacco, and gambling), and leading on research and development.
I’m passionate about improving health outcomes and reducing inequalities through collective action to improve the conditions in which people are born, grow, live, work, and age—particularly here in Liverpool. I believe strongly in the power of community-led change, which aligns closely with HEG’s mission. I’m proud to serve as a trustee and hope to use my experience and insight to support HEG as it continues its important work.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, my two children keep me busy! I love being outdoors, especially in the garden, and find running helps me manage life’s stresses and stay grounded.
