Imani Wilson

Project Coordinator

I recently joined Health Equalities Group as a Project Officer in 2025. I support a range of programmes including the School's Pledge, Give Up Loving Pop (GULP), "Are you onside?" bystander training and elements of the Food Active programme.

My interest in nutrition started early and has shaped both my academic and professional journey. I hold a BSc in Nutrition from the University of Leeds, which included a study abroad year at Monash University, and an MSc in Sport Nutrition from Leeds Beckett University. I began my career conducting research on the outdoor advertising of high fat, salt, and sugar (HFSS) foods and their concentration in more deprived areas, work that supported local policy development. Most recently, I co-led a community-based lifestyle service, managing Tier 2 weight management and smoking cessation programmes, empowering individuals to make sustainable lifestyle changes.

I’m passionate about reducing the barriers that prevent people from living healthier lives. HEG’s values and evidence-based approach to tackling health inequalities closely align with my own. Outside of work, I enjoy running along the Manchester canals, weightlifting, hiking in the countryside, and discovering new food spots and cafés.
