Karen Bone

Senior Project Manager

I recently joined Health Equalities Group as a Project Manager for Food Active, where I’m working on the new Schools Pledge Programme. This initiative focuses on delivering an evidence-based prevention framework for primary schools across Cheshire and Merseyside, aiming to ensure a healthy and active future for children.

My journey into public health nutrition began with evaluating my local primary school's meal provision. Driven by a personal passion for early years and childhood nutrition, I have gained research and evaluation experience, including the development and implementation of a local evaluation of the Universal Infant Free School Meals policy as part of my MSc in Public Health Nutrition. I’ve also worked as a Registered Nutritionist, providing hands-on help and implementing nutrition standards in early years settings. Before becoming a nutritionist, I held various executive business, advisory, and communication support roles.

I am passionate about improving the future outcomes of young children through better nutrition. The impact that nutrition can have on children, their families, and the wider community motivates me every day in my work at HEG.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, walking the dog, and occasionally indulging in a bit of home decorating.
